letter love

 edies lab via etsy

Loving the big, bold letters popping up everywhere these days.
Metal, distressed wood, painted. Loving them all.
The bigger. The better.

I'm dreaming of a big ass letter for our house too.
And I know just the place to "find" one.
Are you there Dad? It's me, Kristi...

make a statement. with just three supplies.

Still not sure how I missed this here...

But I'm damn sure glad I found it here...

I've been walking around the house all day trying to figure out where it (or they) is (are) going to hang and what it (or they) is (are) going to say.

It's a pickle.
Albeit a tasty one!

an artful tuesday.

Is it a door? Or is it art? Or is it both?
I'm voting for both.
Because anyone with a Dr. Seuss quote on their Master Bathroom door is ok in my book.

I still have our Thankful Tree up by the front door.  We made it for Thanksgiving.  It's now February (in case you also live in Northern California and seem to be also stumped by the 72 and sunny weather).  It's just so darn pretty I haven't been able to take it down.  But now I'm thinking maybe I can transform it.  To a photograph / kid's art project / awards tree?  Creepy or cute?  Art or excess?
I'll keep you posted!

janet hill

I posted one of these images on my Facebook page last night so forgive me if this is overkill but I just can't stop staring at these Janet Hill images on my screen.  I ordered the reproduction below for my bedroom earlier this year and I just adore it.  She just exudes femininity.  And to make her even more appealing, although very well packaged, my print arrived torn at the corner thanks to the gentle handling of the lovely little postal service.  No questions asked, Janet replaced my copy immediately.  Now that's class. And style.

Maybe a few last minute gift ideas.
Or just some pretty things to look at.
You choose!

a global perspective

I know, I know, it's Cinco de Mayo and I had visions of creating a colorful Mexican inspired collage but then Etsy sent me this one courtesy of their fabulous blog and there was really no reason to compete.
I mean... it's cool.

Then I saw this stunning work of art at the K Callaghan Gallery and I totally inspired.  My son would LOVE the blue one in his room.  Too bad the walls are currently overrun with shelves of Legos.  Sigh.
Maybe in a few years...

famille summerbelle

Paper banners, sweet print and pretty pink Paris map all courtesy of artist/illustrator Julie Marabelle who has an amazing talent for hand cut paper art.  It's a skill that truly amazes me.  Checkout her YouTube video posted below from her Famille Summerbelle blog.  It condenses more than 20 hours of her meticulous work into a 3 minute video.  It leaves you holding your breath and feeling slightly insignificant.  But that's a good thing.

Thanks must also go to Black Eiffel for the introduction...

art abounds on Etsy

What do you think the likelihood is that I might actually wake up happy if I hung this print by artz ink directly over my bed? Not so much, eh? But I might go to bed happy looking at it!

This new Hadley Hutton arrived yesterday. It's my fourth. I just adore her style.

This photograph by Timothy Irving makes me want to jump into the print and look around. I wonder what else I might find there?

Um, yeah I am. And thanks to Pepper Beaumont for noticing!

arts & crafts

Quote by Studio Mela.
Painting by my dear son, Gage.
This whimsical piece is currently on display in the foyer of our little home for all to see as they come...and go...
(of course I had to replace the kid's scrabble game this morning!)

so very happy

Tomorrow morning I will board a six hour flight cross country to our cold & rainy home with two young children, several hundred stressed out strangers, and heightened security measures. And this...will be my motto. Aqua blue & white 8x10 print by Studio Mela on Etsy.
