This is a fabulous book for first day of school jitters. It's about a raccoon that is scared about going off alone the first night of school so he and his mother create a ritual of kissing each other's hands to say goodbye. The kiss stays with him all night and he's not afraid anymore. Written by Audrey Penn and available here or at your local bookshop.
